Our family were happy with the tour in Mai Chau. We ate the babecued meat and played with local White Thai people.

I had been Mai Chau last week . It was a memorable trip. My sons loved to trek in here. They were so excited .We explored Mai Chau valleys and some villages.Although the weather was cold a bit but we felt comfortable. My guide was so cute and she spoke english well. She was a friendly and helpful person.Thank you.

Had an amazing day spent with Zee and her husband Long!
Felt safe and secure on the motorcycle!

Ate great food with them and enjoyed great conversation!!

They knew so much and shared all their knowledge with us, felt like friends by the end of the trip!

Wish my father and I could have done a longer trip but we only had 2 days left in Vietnam.

Highly recommended, will definitely come back.

Mai Chau trekking is our best part of 13 days in Vietnam. It was 7km trekking around 3 different villages. We also went through rice fields. WE could see water buffalos and mountain goats in Te hamlet. The food in general was delicious but i loved to have more spicy ones.

We did Hoa Lu Tam Coc with Aroka and found an excellent tour organizer, then we booked Mai Chau 2 days 1 night.

This was the highlight of our trip. We chose the 2 day, 1 night option. A 3.5 hr minibus ride from central Hanoi (long but do-able), with a stop off at a tourist shop and a roadside food stall with incredible valley views. Once in Mai Chau you are given a huge home cooked meal and ‘check in’ to your room. There is an option for group dorm (cheaper) but a few extra dollars gets a wooden bungalow with straw roof, rain shower, standing fan and 4 poster bed with mozzie net. Pretty basic but wonderful and very comfortable. Plus a balcony overlooking the river and rice paddies to chill out with a beer. We were there during an overnight rainstorm with no leaking problems. Most things are included in the cost except drinks (which were very cheap, but add up) and motorbike hire if you wanted them instead of bikes.
The guide we had (Mai) was an extremely knowledgeable and fun student with great English. Day 1 she took us on a cycling tour of the village which took a few hours, stopping at some amazing sights for photos and to look at daily life. We had a huge BBQ dinner at a local restaurant and enjoyed a traditional dance performance by some young local people. Day 2 breakfast was local style noodles, eggs and toast or banana pancakes (delicious). After this we visited 1000-step cave which has a lot of history and importance in the area. Not an easy hike but worth doing (VIEWS!!). On the way home we visited the crafts markets which sold souvenirs… traditional woven purses, bags, toys, shawls etc. much cheaper than the same things in Hanoi so we didn’t see much point in haggling. Then we had another massive home cooked lunch and free time to take the bikes out or wander around the river and rice paddies until the bus home. Awesome food, cultural eye opener, good for adventurous/active types, friendly locals and very relaxing. I am sure many of the homestay hill tribes trips would be similar, definitely an unmissable Vietnam experience.

It takes 3 hours to arrive Mai Chau valley but it is worth to travel. The highlight for trip is the scenery of the area – very peaceful and tranquil.
